Silver Lake, or A Coordinated Pair, Part II

Rings after casting. Sprues protrude upward from the inside. They'll be removed.

Rings were cast in .950 Palladium.

Top view. The sprue is the entrance point for the metal during casting. Visible is the distressing to the sides of the rings, placed there intentionally during the wax carving process.

At the bench pin. Ready to saw off the sprues.

Rings were annealed (softened) so they could be enlarged to the proper size.

Lord of the Rings!

Annealing palladium requires a cherry-red heat driven by a reducing flame (hot, hissing) for about 30 seconds, followed by air cooling.

Using a pneumatic graver (Lindsay Airgraver), I add finishing touches to the coordinates.
The finished rings, ready for a lifetime of adventures. Congratulations, Anne Marie and Geoffrey!
